Science fiction author J. S. Dewes talks about The Relentless Legion, the third book in her “The Divide” series, and more.

Jen talks about this space opera series, what inspired her to tell these stories and come up with these characters. She talks about how one lyric from a country music song, “I’ll fly a starship across the Universe Divide” (“Highwayman” by The Highwaymen) jumpstarted all the ideas that came about for this series.

She talks about how to arranges her work to complete each book, and how much harder it was for her to come up with a detailed enough outline (pantser vs outliner), and learning how to do that while writing her standalone book, Rubicon, which is also available now.

Jen also talks about writing for video games (finding her dream job via her books), and don’t miss the Spotify playlists full of the music that she’s written these stories to, and a couple for some of the characters.

Jen confirms that while there is a satisfying conclusion for this third book, there is an outline for a fourth — and true final — volume, if Tor greenlights the story.
