Best-selling author Amy Meyerson’s latest novel is a psychological suspense where two mothers are determined to unravel a murder mystery with connections to them both.

Amy talks about how her writing led her from women’s fiction into the standard suspense and thriller genres, what story structures and elements attracted her towards strong women and the strong stories found within suspense and thriller stories and the challenges for her own writing delving into that type of story presented for her.

She also talks about the unspoken undercurrent of horror that accompanies pregnancies, and the sense of entitlement strangers seem to feel when they see and want to touch a pregnant woman, and how pregnancy hormones can affect and enhance those anxieties and fears and suspicions about the people around you, both in public and at home.

Amy also talks about her research into law enforcement investigators, particularly how they deal with not being able to investigate a death because there isn’t any evidence of a crime involved in causing that death. She also researched Venice and the canal system and the ecosystem between the residents and tourists.
