Staci Layne Wilson, author of horror, true crime and other non-fiction, talks about her newest novel, MURDER IN THE HOUSE OF MIRRORS, set in 1970s Los Angeles, following a female detective’s chase of one serial killer, while two other notorious serial killers actively hunt in the terrified city.
She talks about her childhood experiences with widespread community fears of the Hillside Strangler, and what inspired her to use mirrors as this killer’s “focus”, and building the personality of the killer’s unwilling sidekick character. She also touches a bit on her research into the history of women officers and detectives in the Los Angeles Police Department, and how that information helped her form the character of Detective Marci-Ann James, and the insight she gleaned from Sociopath: A Memoir by Patric Gagne, Ph.D. (2024).
Staci also talks about THE GIRL IN GREEN, a psychological thriller set in the 1908s, where you’re not quite sure who the real monster is. Despite the teasing cover, this is a prose novel, not a graphic novel.
