Writer and game designer Gareth Hanrahan stops by to talk about his Black Iron Legacy series. The second book, “The Shadow Saint”, is out now from Orbit Books.

Gareth talks about the building of and growth of the story, fitting all the pieces that intrigued him together to end up with a steampunk magic mashup where reality itself is not a stable thing.

He also talks about his approach to writing for table top games and the need craft story narratives while still allowing enough space for the players to develop their inputs to the story and allow unpredictability to flourish as well.
