Thriller author Andrew Welsh-Huggins talks about The Delivery, the second adventure in his “Mercury Carter Thrillers” series.
He honestly had never seen or heard of the Transporter franchise (movies and TV series) before The Mail Man was written and published, so the comparisons and questions from fans tends to cause a few laughs. Andrew feels more inspired by the Reacher books by Lee Child, by the lone wolf wandering ronin type of lead characters in the Orphan X and Easy Rawlins series, and he had them in mind when creating Mercury Carter.
He also talks about how with his writing process, he’s moved from being a 100% pantser to more of a 75% plotter, and how that’s given him more structure to play more freely with, in terms of plot twists and character developments, with fewer chances to follow plot ideas for too long when they aren’t working well.
